Did you know that happy people are 31% more productive?
And up to three times more creative than unhappy people?
Since we spend a lot of time working, that is reason enough to pay attention to work happiness. We believe that freedom of choice is an essential part of this.

What is work happiness?

Experiencing work happiness means getting satisfaction and enjoyment from your work.
Intrinsic motivation, enthusiasm and a positive attitude are important prerequisites. You need this to make your daily work a success. Not surprisingly, work happiness contributes to productivity at work.

What factors determine work happiness?

These 5 factors determine your work happiness:

  • Flexibility. Being able to balance work and private life optimally makes you happy. You need this to recharge; gain new insights. Being able to arrange your work flexibly is therefore very important.
  • Challenge. Your work should be sufficiently challenging but not overloading. From challenges you grow as a professional and as a person. If you can peak you will stay sharp, but there must also be room to switch off and unwind again. That balance should be at least 50/50.
  • Flow. Being completely absorbed in your activity and forgetting about time brings you completely to this moment. Flow is a delightful experience that contributes greatly to intrinsic motivation and thus to your work happiness.
  • Relationships. Respectful and equal contact with your colleagues, customers, suppliers and managers is the fourth factor and important for your work happiness. You want to feel heard and seen. Being able to spar with each other in a safe environment results in a pleasant working atmosphere. This can give your enthusiasm an incredible boost, and believe me, it’s contagious.
  • Significance. Your work serves a higher purpose. For example, think about how you can contribute to your customers’ happiness with your services. This makes your work meaningful. You get an awful lot of satisfaction from that.

Why is work happiness important?

Okay, work happiness makes you more productive, creative and motivated. This also affects the rest of your daily life. When was the last time you went home feeling fulfilled? And how did this affect your evening? With what feeling did you get up to go back to work? Important questions to keep in mind if you want to get everything out of life.
